While New York City may seem like a big place, many recent grads find a sense of belonging through volunteering at organizations that support their community. In that spirit, Duke Alums Engage NYC connects alumni interested in philanthropy and community service opportunities. Some of our programming has included:

  1. FeedingNY Thanksgiving Service – A service opportunity in Manhattan supporting families in shelters in need of Thanksgiving meals
  2. Grassroots Grocery Winter Event – A service opportunity in the Bronx supporting families in need by packing 12,000 pounds of fresh produce
  3. Regional Spring Events – Service opportunities across the region including Long Island and Connecticut supporting local communities

The Duke Alums Engage NYC committee welcomes collaborating with alumni on service and educational opportunities. To connect with the DukeNY Board regarding DAE NYC events and service opportunities, please reach out to Jenai Jackson ([email protected]). We also maintain a running list of alumni sourced volunteer opportunities here. To contribute to the list, you can fill out this brief form. Join our new Duke Alums Engage WhatsApp group to connect with other alumni interested in volunteering together in our community.

In service, Jenai Jackson (T’14) DukeNY Board Member DAE NYC Chair
