- Favorite things about NY
- “I love everything about NY - the loyalty of the people of NY, the constant change, and how quick it moves and how you can plan something last minute always”
- “The dynaism of the city is really incomparable”
- “Finding ways to volunteer -- a one off (e.g. DAE events) or regularly (e.g. a soup kitchen). It's easy to get sucked into work or to stay local in your neighborhood, but the good news is NY is there for you whenever you're ready and looking to venture out.”
- “The subway! Where else can you find such a wide representation of humanity crammed together in (general) harmony? On top of that, sometimes it feels like time travel as you drop down in one neighborhood and can feel like you pop up in an entirely different part of the world? The subway can take you to the beach, Citi field, US Open, the Garden, Yankee Stadium, Lincoln Center, the Theatre District, Times Square, the Freedom Tower, Chinatown, etc.”
- “Eclectic food”
- “One of the things that will ensure that NYC remains the best city on the planet is the Theatre culture (Shakespeare in the park, etc.) Plays don't always need to be expensive to be great/worthwhile, make going part of your routine and you won't regret it”
- “The food -- there's something for everyone! -- i love when New Yorkers are out of town or sleeping and the streets are strangely quiet!”
- “Sunrise as seen from the West Side of the Reservoir - the light coming up and through the buildings. And the gorgeous sunsets you can catch from the West Side.”
- “Running around the city and checking out different streets and neighborhoods especially in the mornings when it is still kind of quiet. The city is so diverse so be sure to meet people who are different than you! And get outside of Manhattan (Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx) to get some of the best food!”
- “There’s something for everyone in this city and you can really be who you want to be here; I love the cultural diversity”
- “Summer houses in the Hamptons or Fire Island”
- “There are a ton of pick up soccer games and leagues to play in. Possibilities are endless. Going to The Met. Smorgasburg. NY Liberty game. Gotham FC games”
- Favorite NY memories
- “My favorite when I moved in was long walks with no destination exploring neighborhoods. I/ we used to pick a brunch spot we’d never been to but had great write ups (Time Out, Yelp etc) and walk there from the UWS/UES…you’ll learn a lot about the neighborhoods in between!”
- “DukeNY used to co-host Circle Line boat cruise with a few other schools!”
- “My favorite NY memory is doing a girls day with my sisters at Christmas. We went to the Bryant Park holiday market, walked down 5th Avenue to see the store windows and the Rockafeller Tree, went to tea at the St. Regis and ended the day at the Rockettes performance at Radio City Music Hall. It was a day of things you can only do in NYC, and it was really special to share it with my family.”
